  6. IJPS, IPS Overview of Operations • October 19, 2006 - Metop Launch • GFT access to AUX data in place • Initial OPS with no yaw-steering corrections • Introduced user data access through DDS • retained on the DDS system for 4 days • December 15, 2006 – Yaw-steering attitude corrections turned on • Investigating level 1b attitude errors • Across track • Ascending/descending along track offsets • Declared operational on May 1st • NOAA-18 Blind Orbit GAC from SV began August 7 – no longer on DOMSAT • Move to NSOF complete by March 30 • Data Loss • August 29, 30 – 6 passes due to problem with NOAA Gateway at Eumetsat • September 3, 4 –17 passes under investigation • September 17 - 19 – payload switch off (4th time since launch) • On the horizon • GAC from archived FRAC

  7. IJPS, IPS Overview of Operations Navigation and Geolocation • Level 1b along track error correction • Removal of pitch and roll yaw steering components and introduction of AVHRR roll, pitch, & yaw attitude bias • Error in level 1b yaw-steering measured angles • Due to missing measured angles • Incorrectly assigns computed angles to field • Fill value to use is zero • Set current flag showing correction method as computed value only

  8. IJPS, IPS Overview of Operations Internal Pipeline Processing • Anomalies addressed • AVHRR calibration backfill • Received approval to use 24 PRT values instead of 30 • Software updated to remove backfill and replace with new algorithm • Tested on emerald – no problems detected • Allowing for acceptor recovery in the event of failure – not a show stopper for implementation • Ending granule sometimes not produced for all instruments – still to be resolved • may cause problem for products • Causes problem for OPUS continued product processing

  9. Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) • Performed internal tests to ensure that data from backup site same quality as current • CONOPS Being Revised • Different Synchronization Methodology • Mobilization Plan in Draft pending CONOPS Mods • Several ICD’s Being Developed • Initial Deployment to WI CDA set November, 2007 • Notifying users of impact when switch required and testing
