What Financial Aid does CTC offer? • Grants/Scholarship: • …HOPE Grant (only offered at Technical Schools in GA) • 3.0 HS GPA NOT REQUIRED • For Diploma and Certificate Programs • …HOPE Scholarship • 3.0 HS GPA Required (7 years from HS graduation date) • For Associate Degree Programs • …Pell Grant - need based • …SEOG - need based • …FWS (Federal Work-Study) - need based • Loans: No Federal Stafford Loans (Private Only)
Do I have to complete a FAFSA? To be considered for the maximum amount of financial aid, you must complete a FAFSA FAFSA-One application for all Financial Aid (Hope, Pell etc.)
Completing the FAFSA • Apply at online www.fafsa.ed.gov • Use CTC School Code: 005620 • FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (do not pay) • Sign electronically with a PIN # www.pin.ed.gov • Parent and student PIN# required • For faster processing, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to transfer income tax information into your FAFSA • Apply each year, as early as January 1st of each year for the following fall semester. • Fall/spring/summer
FAFSA done--What ‘s next • Once FAFSA is completed online by student, CTC will receive electronic data in 7-10 business days • You will be notified (via email and letter) with an: • Award letter; or • Missing requirement letter Award Letter: If student has been admitted, not selected for verification and they are eligible for financial aid, an award is posted. Missing requirement letter: You have been selected for verification and more documents are needed, before your financial aid can be processed.
The GSFAPPS (HOPE-Only Application) • Do I have to complete the FAFSA if I only want HOPE Grant/Scholarship? • HOPE application is found at: www.gacollege411.org • HOPE Grant - certificate or diploma programs • HOPE Scholarship – degree programs
Keeping Your Financial Aid Hope GPA Requirements (Grant & Scholarship) Must keep 3.0 for both Reviewed at 30th and 60th attempted hour Grant pays up to 63 credit hours Scholarship pays up to 127 credit hours
Keeping Your Financial Aid CONT. Lifetime Pell Grant Maximum Once you have received a Pell Grant for six years (12 semesters), or the full time equivalent, you will no longer be eligible for additional Pell Grants at CTC or any college/university in the US. What this means for you: You must plan now for your future, especially if you plan to transfer to a four year college to pursue a Bachelors degree. The six year limit is a LIFETIME limit, regardless of completion of your academic goals or Bachelors degree!
Keeping Your Financial Aid continued Satisfactory Academic Progress • 2.0 GPA required (different requirements for Hope) • 67% completion of all classes • 150% maximum time frame program completion
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) • Student: “I have a 4.0, how can I be on Financial Aid Suspension???” • Financial Aid Office: “Have you looked at the number of times you have withdrawn from classes?” • Student: “Nobody told me…”
Satisfactory Academic Progress • Reviewed at the end of each semester • Students must have an overall 2.0 gpa and 67% completion rate of all classes in which they have registered • Good Standing eligible for FA • Warning eligible for FA • Suspension not eligible • 150% Maximum • EX: program of study is 100 hours you can only attempt 150 hours and continue to receive financial aid.
Withdrawing from ClassesDropping and Withdrawing-not the same thing! How does this affect my financial aid? • Withdrawals can affect the student’s Satisfactory Academic Progress which can result in the loss of financial aid. • Complete withdrawal from the term can result in student having to pay back a portion of funds received.
Financial Aid in the Bookstore • Students can use financial aid to purchase books at the Chattahoochee Tech bookstores. • Pell: Up to $600.00 Pell book credit (depending on Pell Grant Award) • Funds used in the Bookstore is less the student will be refunded---not “extra.”
CTC One Card and Refunds • CTC OneCard(www.ctconecard.com) • Used for issuing student refunds • Refund options: • OneAccount (debit card) • ACH Transfer • Paper check • Replacement cards: $10.00 (no matter the reason) • Refunds are processed around the 4th week of the term. (Check the Bursars website each term for exact refund dates)

Payment Deadlines! • Students with unpaid balance of ANY amount will be dropped at the payment deadline(s). • Students are reminded by telephone and e-mail multiple, multiple times! • Students should always keep up-to-date contact information in Banner. • Students are encouraged to have their financial aid completed well in advance of any payment deadline to prevent losing their schedules.
Admission Overview: • Admission for High School Students: • Have qualifying test scores: • SAT or ACT test scores or • CTC Placement Compass Test • Meet with your high school guidance counselor for graduation requirements • Complete the CTC SOAR application packet • Hand in the completed packet before the DEADLINE
