  3. VNG Association Capacity Building Work in GhanaFocus of Work with NALAG in 2010 • Strengthened Management, Technical and Administrative Capacity • Objective: new 5-year Strategic Plan • Improved Lobby and Advocacy Capacity • Development of a Lobby Action Plan

VNG Municipal International Cooperation in Ghana • 4 municipal twinnings Cooperation to increase fee-based tax collection Cooperation to improve provision of fee-based services Results 2010 : • Development and instaIlation of District Database System (DDS) • Improved revenue generation • Improved fee-based waste collection services • Dissemination of best practices through NALAG Postponed till 2012

  5. VVSG Municipal International Cooperation in Ghana Partnership: Wa Municipal Assembly – Ieper In 2010 aimed at: • Local economy • Environment – Waste Management • Registry and population • Youth and education Partnership under revision – till 2012

  6. AFLRA Municipal International Cooperation in Ghana Partnerships: Ho – Lähti Aims at: • Ecological sanitation and water protection • Solid waste management • Environmental management • Environmental awareness raising

Deutsche StädtetagACB NALAG By means of exchanges between DST and NALAG aims at: • Improvement of lobbying • Improvement of services provision • Improvement of financial situation In 2010: coordination efforts around this by DST, French Embassy, GIZ and VNG. A joint study visit Min of LG and Parliamentarians to Germany, NL and France.

Options for Collaboration: MIC / ACB • AFLRA: October – Cleantech Fair in Finland, November Ecological sanitation workshop • DST: fact finding in June/July – MoU in October Information needs: • VVSG wants decentralisation policy info + best practices in youth policy, improvement of administration • DST wants to know contact persons • AFLRA needs best practices on environmental administration + stakeholder involvement
