Exploring Iran: A Rich Tapestry of Geography, History, and Transformation

Iran, located in the Middle East, boasts stunning landscapes of snow-capped mountains, lush green valleys, and arid deserts. As one of the world's oldest countries, it has evidence of settlements dating back 5,000 years. The region experienced significant change during the 600s when Muslim caliphs governed for approximately 200 years. The discovery of oil in the early 1900s brought wealth, followed by economic development under Reza Shah Pahlavi. The 1979 revolution led by Ayatollah Khomeini transformed Iran into an Islamic republic, intensifying social controls and altering its foreign relations.
