Somali Pirates Hijack Greek Cargo Ship, Detainees Face Trial in New York

On Friday the 13th, recent events have captured attention worldwide. Somali pirates have seized the Greek cargo ship MV Filitsta with 22 crew members near the Seychelles Islands. Additionally, five detainees from Guantanamo Bay, linked to the 9/11 attacks, are set to face a civilian trial in New York. In a separate incident, a United Airlines pilot was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol before a flight from London to Chicago. Finally, US debt hit a new record for the federal deficit at $176.4 billion for October, surprising many.

  2. PIRATES SEIZE GREEK SHIP • On Wednesday suspected Somali pirates hijacked a Greek cargo ship with 22crew members aboard • Seized near the Seychelles Islands • Ships name was MV Filitsta • As of Wednesday the ship was headed north

Detainees to face civilian trial • 5 Guantanamo Bay detainees will be facing trial in New York • All five have ties to 9/11 including the mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed • Mohammed admitted to being the mastermind of the attacks after being water boarded • Other four people names were not released

  4. ONE DRINK TO MANY • On Wednesday British police arrested a United Airlines pilot who was under the influence of alcohol • Captain Irwin Vermont Washington was removed from the 767 which was supposed to fly from London to Chicago
