  1. January 8, 2019 Bell Ringer How do you decide what to wear in the morning?

  2. The Clothes You Need • You may dress differently next year. What you wear depends on what you do. How are you spending your day? You need to buy clothes to suit those activities. • This year, you spend a sizable amount of your time sitting in a classroom. Most of the clothes that you buy should work for the classroom setting. You can also wear your school clothes on the weekends if you would like. You may also want a few outfits that are more or less formal depending on your likes/ needs.

  3. Shopping Out of Season • Do you dress the same during the summer? You may be able to buy summer clothes at discount prices. • For example, buying a winter coat during winter may be a good idea, but check your budget. • There may also be clearance sales at the end of a season. • Stores (or people) want to get rid of articles that they will not be promoting in the immediate future.

  4. The Balance • You go to school. Imagine that you also have a part-time job (or maybe you actually do). What is the time comparison of your hours you spend at school to your job? You may choose to spend your money based on this ratio. Or is one a higher priority to you; this may also influence your budget. • You buy 2 shirts for $25 each, pants for $19, and 3 packs of socks for $6.50 each. The sales tax is 6%. How much will your new clothes cost?

  5. Dressing For Your Future Job • Dressing for your job is very important. Here are some tips to help you make wise decisions. • Notice what people wear at work, especially your co-workers. Do they wear jeans or dress pants? • Buy clothes that are made well. It is better to have a few well-made clothes than many clothes that will wear out quickly or shrink when you wash them. • Choose clothes that are comfortable. Can you sit, bend, and stretch in your clothes? Think about the temperature where you work. Is there air conditioning? Is there heat? Are you outside nuch of the day?

  6. Dressing For You Future Job (Continued) 4) If possible, try to buy clothes you can wear in other places, too. Can you wear your work clothes when you go out with your friends? To school? To other places you often go? 5) Read the clothing care labels before you buy. Does the item need to be dry-cleaned? You can save money by buying clothes you can wash yourself.
