Repetition is a common compositional technique in architecture, it can be seen in the rows of structure, a grid of openings, or the stacking of a material. In columns, windows, bricks, or other elements, repetition helps to create a rhythm for a building,
Windows are probably the most-repeated elements (minus materials like bricks) in residential architecture.
Repetition is not limited to architectural elements; landscape can of course play a part.
Repetition can create all kinds of patterns and make the eye follow different directions.
In this picture the repetition of the rectangle is used for the windows and the shelves as well as the furniture.
In these photos circles are repeated for a completely new effect that appeals to the eye.
Repetition in Architecture- Repetition is a concept of systematic rhythm. As human beings we are naturally engaged in experiencing things that are done in a rhythm such as Music, Dance; where time and movements are coordinated. In Architecture Rhythm is present in columns, windows, walls and others elements of a building designed in such way that it transmit a repetition of the same element.
