Exploring cultural behaviour (2) • Most striking result • Negative attitude towards • Online cultural consumption • Online communication in an art community “Instead of sitting behind your pc, you have to experience cultural performances in real life and afterwards discuss these with your friends in a pub” • But they participate less in cultural life then they would like • Busy family life • Lack of time • Difficulties in deciding where to go to • Not enough inspiration to discover new cultural interests

Testing the social features • Understand the users these new social software concepts? • Never heard of social software / web 2.0 • Tag  translated (“trefwoord”) • Related tags  discover related art forms • Popular tags  discover new art forms • Distinction friend / neighbour • Willingness to use these functionalities? • VACF community could be a guide through the abundance of cultural performances

Discussion & future work • Rather negative attitude towards VACF idea • Revised their opinion after confrontation with new possibilities of community software • VACF community can help them broaden their cultural experiences • Focus: exploring the cultural offer & cultural information • Help them to explore through ‘profiles’ • Get to know / trust each other • Stronger connections in VACF community? • Interplay between offline Vooruit community & online VACF community • They can meet each other in the Vooruit  motivation? • Basic research questions
