  2. DEFINITION • Community building is an activity which encourages interaction between people, and in doing so expresses commonalities and decreases isolation.

  3. SAMPLES • Put people into random groups. Have them come up with as many things they all enjoy or are good at in a short time frame. • Have them interview a partner to find out more about that person and share it with the class.

  4. SAMPLES CONT. • Hand out a sheet that the class has to complete by filling in the blanks about their classmates. Such as, find a person with blue eyes and write their name down. Another example is to find a person who loves to swim.

Who has traveled to another country ______________________5. Whose parent is a teacher ________________________6. Who likes to ski ______________________7. Who has sung in a choir _______________________

  6. REASONS WHY • Encourages interaction between the students. • Brings people closer together by showing them things that they have in common. • May decrease the chance of someone being isolated from the group. • Creates a family inside of the classroom.
