  3. How to Use The Transformation Map: The idea behind a transformation map is to provide a method of plotting and displaying a collection of steps to achieve a goal. The steps to constructing this chart are as follows: 1. An example of a long term goal that on track • A primary vision must first be determined. This ultimate concept should be as succinct as possible – one or two sentences should do nicely. • A coordinator or committee will decide on broad areas of development to the end goal. The chart contains five, but there can be as few as two or three main goals (this can be modified by deleting the diagonal lines between sections) • People with specific knowledge in these main areas will decide what projects within the section should be completed and when. Project names should be • All of this data is then entered into the map by cutting and pasting the example boxes, resizing them to fit, numbering them appropriately and entering the project name. Boxes should span the years over which it is expected to take place. Each project should have its own project info screen. • Finally, as projects come to term and when the report is ready to be presented, the color of each project box should be changed to fit the circumstance. For instance, if a project has encountered minor problems the color could be changed to yellow. If a project has completely ground to a halt for whatever reason, it may be colored red. An example of a short term goal with a major issue How to Use the Project Info Screen • Number and title the screen to match the project name in the Transformation Map. • Determine and list the primary objectives. • Determine and list any areas of concern. • Determine and list the required resources. • Fill out the project calendar to list major events and deadlines for the project.
