Opening and Saving Files Microsoft Word
Saving Files • When you finish a project and want to save it, do the following • Click on File on the menu bar • Next, click on Save as… • A box will appear. In the lab we will be saving to Documents. That is what should be at the top of the box. • In the blank called file name, type your teacher’s name. • Click ok.
Opening Files • Click on File • Click on Open • Select the file that you want to open and click on it. • Click Open in the corner of the box. • Your project is open.
Formatting Text • Type your text. • Highlight your text. • On the tool bar, choose the font you like. • Choose the size you like • Click B to make it bold • Click I to make it italicized • Click U to underline it
Changing color of text • Highlight text you want to change. • Click on arrow next to the letter A that has a color bar below it. • When colors appear, choose one or click on “More Colors.” • Choose a color.
Inserting Word Art • In your document • Click on INSERT. • Find PICTURE • Slide across and down to WORD ART and click. • Choose a WORD ART shape and click on it, then click ok. • Type your text. • Click ok.
Changing Color In Word Art • Click on your Word Art one time to get your tool bar. • To change color, click on the paint brush and paint bucket. • Change your color or click on fill effects, select two colors or preset. • Click ok and ok again.
Home Keys • Put your fingers on the home keys. • Pointer fingers are on the f and the j. • Type with your left hand starting with the f. It will be f d s a. Say the letters to yourself as you type. • Type with your right hand starting with the j. It will be j k l ;. Say the letters to yourself as you type.
