  3. Remembrance Day • When is it? 11th November every year • What do we remember? The signing of the Armistice at the end of World War 1 • What happens on this day? We wear poppies. People lay wreaths beside war memorials. We hold 2 minutes silence • Why do you think we celebrate?

  4. Bonfire Night • When is it? 5th November every year • What do we remember? We commemorate the capture of Guy Fawkes with bonfires and fireworks, and by burning an effigy of Guy. What happens on this day? Fireworks. Bonfires. • Why do you think we celebrate?

  5. Burns Night • When is it? 25th January every year • What do we remember? commemoration of the life and works of Robert Burns, Scotland's most famous poet What happens on this day? People traditionally eat haggis served with neeps and tatties on Burns' Night • Why do you think we celebrate?

  6. Queen’s Birthday • When is it? second Saturday in June • What do we remember? the Queen’s birthday What happens on this day? Trooping of the colour at Buckingham Palace • Why do you think we celebrate?
