Rockwell Collins STEP Strategy Product Structure/ Component Connectivity • Functionality • Analysis Support • Shape 2D, 3D • Package • Material Product • Properties • Functional • Packaged Physical • Component Placement • Bare Board Design • Layout templates • Layers non-planar, • conductive & non-conductive • Material product Configuration Mgmt • Identification • Authority • Effectivity • Control • Requirement Traceability • Analytical Model • Document References Geometry • Geometrically Bounded 2-D • Wireframe with Topology • Surfaces • Advanced BREP Solids • Constructive Solid Geometry Requirements • Design • Allocation • Constraints • Interface • Rules Design Control Technology • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing • Fabrication Design Rules • Product Design Rules

  10. Rockwell Collins STEP Objectives • Consolidation Of Multiple Proprietary Data Exchange Environments Across Collins • Provide Standard Data Environment For All Engineering Data, Internal Or External • Reduce Effort For Execution Of External Designs Or Builds • Provide Common Base For Defining And Exchanging Engineering Library Data Regardless Of The Tool Used • Expand Breadth Of Data Transfer Capability Compared To Current Processes

  11. Status of STEP Pilots • A Pilot Program Is In Place For Using STEP AP203 Data For Some Of Our Mechanical Vendors • We Are Developing A Basic STEP AP210 Output To Pass Electronic Component Library Data To Our CIM Environment • We Are Planning On Replacing Our Internal Product BOM Format With STEP AP210 Within The Next Year For Passing Product Data From Engineering To CIM • A Collaborative AP210 Pilot Between Rockwell Collins and Boeing Is Underway

  12. Other STEP Activities • Investigating the development of a STEP AP210 translator for Zuken-Redac • Proprietary Issues are being Addressed to Support Library-Based Data In A STEP File • Currently Providing IGES and STEP 203 Data, but will soon transition to only STEP 203 • Involved in a CAM-I International Project Focused on Feature Standardization • Looking for Externally Funded Projects that can be Leveraged to Advance STEP

  13. Success Going Forward?? A key ingredient to success for the Rockwell Collins Extended Enterprise is the ability to use and move information without modification. STEP IS THE STANDARD THAT WILL SUPPORT SHARED INFORMATION!
