  2. Production • Drive is an American crime drama directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and produced by Michel Litvak, John Palermo, Marc Platt, GigiPritzker and Adam Siegel. The film was produced in the United States by the production companies Bold Films, Odd Lot Entertainment, Marc Platt Productions, Motel Movies. The total running time for the film was 100 minutes and the language of the film was English. • Drive contains many well known actors including Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks. • The film was released May 20, 2011 in Cannes and September 16, 2011 in the United States. It was funded on a production budget. This determines how much money will be spent on the film project and involves the costs of filmmaking (development, pre-production, production, post-production and distribution.) The budget for Drive was about $13 million and had to cover both above the line costs and below the line. The film made $11 million and took third place at the box office.

  3. Distribution • The film premiered on May 20, in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Then in November 2010, FilmDistrict acquired North American distribution rights. On the opening night of Drive it was played at 2,886 locations on about 3,100 screens in the US. It made more than $4 million in ticket sales on its opening day. It was distributed by FilmDistrict. Exhibition • Drive was released in over 50 countries including USA, UK, France, Canada, Greece and Australia. • - what type of cinema was the film released in-- what marketing strategies were used to promote the film- • They also won numerous awards including best director, best action movie, best supporting actor and best international actor. Drive received positive reviews from critics with 93% positive based on 228 reviews, giving the film an average of 8.2/10.A critic from The Hollywood Reporter called Drive a "tasty, if sketchy, modern noir with car chases and bloody action that should turn the trick for genre-seeking audiences." Also a critic of The A.V. Club gave it a "B+" rating, and said he will remember at least half a dozen of the movie's scenes for the rest of his life. However, a negative review came from New York magazine writer who referred to the film as "higher trash".
