Designated Firearm Officer • Model Already Designed and Implemented in Western Cape Province. • Responsible for Functions related to the Act at Station Level, inter alia: • Monthly Returns. • Physical Inspections. • Safes • Dealers, • Manufactures, etc. • Background Evaluation. • Selection, Screening & Appointment of Candidate DFO’s. • Training of Designated Firearm Officers.

  12. SAPS Operational Policing Strategy:Firearms Except for all the initiatives regarding the implementation of the New Act, SAPS is currently implementing an overarching Operational Strategy to emphasize Government’s commitment to control firearms.

To ensure proper investigation and to enhance the evidential value of case dockets.
