  1. WaterPollution By: Maddi Crabtree and Rashmi Naidu

  2. What is Water Pollution • Water pollution is the loss of any good use of water, thus reducing the allowed human activity

  3. How to know if the water’s polluted • There are many good ways to use water like drinking, bathing, and washing clothes. If water is unsuitable for any reason then it can be considered polluted. You can see if it is a high or low level of pollution by the amount of activity is allowed. If it is a low level of pollution it is usually temporarily polluted, but if it at a very high level of pollution it is usually a permanent polluted area.

  4. Is it polluted? • You shouldn’t assume that all water in nature will be immediately suitable for all uses. You shouldn’t just go and drink water straight from a river, stream, or pond. The water may not be polluted, but you shouldn’t drink it for safety reasons. If the water is tested and it is unsafe for all human activity it can be considered a high level of pollution.

  5. Where does pollution come from • Pollution occurs on a regular basis worldwide, but many changes have been made in the last few years to fix this issue. Water pollution can be caused by accidents or purposely. Examples of some pollution sources are sewage plants, creameries, and food production waste products. Pollution can come from natural causes, but it mostly happens because of humans. It also can come from Acid rain, storm drains, city runoff, and factories.

  6. How pollution can affect animals • For example, birds can get stuck in six pack plastic rings. • When birds dive into oil to look for fish they sometimes get stuck and eventually drown. • Last of all, animals can get injured by eating pollution. For example, turtles like to eat jellyfish, so sometimes they mistake a piece of plastic for jellyfish, and they choke to death.

  7. What is Ground Water • Groundwater is the water the seeps through the soil and into underlying rocks. Once under the soil the water moves slowly through and is stored in the cracks of the rock. If enough water is stored, it is referred to as an aquifer. Groundwater comes back above ground by springs or by flowing into rivers. It can also be pumped up from the aquifers.

  8. Pollution of ground water • You know many ways how we pollute water above ground, but you can also pollute water underground. If you spill toxic waste or any harmful liquid in landfills or just in your front yard it seeps through and pollutes the ground water. We get a lot of our fresh water from ground water and if it is polluted we could run out of water.

  9. How to help stop water pollution • There are many ways to cause water pollution, but there are also many ways to help fix pollution. You can help animals in the ocean by cleaning up parts of a beach, even shortening the time you take showers, or not waiting for the water to get cold out of the sink, and don’t put harmful chemicals of waste down sewers/ sink will help stop water pollution.
