The data exchange mechanisms between Current Research Information Systems (CRISs) and Institutional Repositories (IRs) are inadequately defined, leading to inefficiencies in managing information flow. This paper outlines the necessary business processes for effective data transfer, including roles and responsibilities, and explores potential shifts within institutional roles, such as between Research Offices and Libraries. We discuss the evolving business cases for CRISs and IRs, highlight key drivers like open access and REF, and present a maturity model with roadmaps for successful implementation, including metrics for measuring success.

IR to CRIS Mechanisms for data exchange between CRISs and IRs are currently badly defined Defining the business process that will allow information to from a CRIS to IR (inc roles, responsibilities) Will there be a shift of roles within institutions between (for example) Research Offices and Libraries? Changes to the business cases for IRs and CRISs (what are the key drivers?) drivers open and REF now moving to building business intelligence. 70% of HEIs don’t have CERIF compliant CRIS’s - therefore need to manage institutions at a variety of stages of development Maturity model with roadmaps, including examples of good practice Identifying relevant metrics for measuring success Evaluate CRIS to IR dataflow mechanisms.
