  1. What it takes to be An effective teacher in the year 2010 and beyond.... Learning to work and learn in the future "Unfortunately, new technologies are no panacea for problems in education and by themselves they at most enable, rather than create, change. It is ironic that the research showing how powerful computers can be ultimately brings us back to the idea that it is teachers who make the difference." (Bruce, 2002, p. 17). Technology, while a fantastic tool, has many negative implications for students and teachers. Students who rely on digital interactions may end up with issues in social situations. Deciphering fact from fiction can become an overwhelming task. Teachers must be able to use their imagination and find ways to integrate the emerging technologies and be able to teach children to teach themselves to use tools that do not even exist yet(Churches, Andrew. 2008. Eight Habits of Highly Effective 21st Century Teachers. Retrieved December 22 2009 from http://www.masternewmedia.org/teaching-skills-what-21st-century-educators-need-to-learn-to-survive/) Students who know how they learn will be better equipped to deal with emerging technologies in the future. There are many technologies that will impact students in the future. Science is constantly developing new tools and industry, driven by the economy, pushes forward with unforeseen developments. Students will need to know how to best benefit and work in such a constantly developing world.
