IUS Men's Tennis: Back-to-Back KIAC Champions and 2009 Season Outlook

The IUS Men's Tennis team achieved remarkable success in the 2008 season, finishing 14-4 overall and going undefeated in KIAC play. Highlights included an 8-1 victory over the University of the Cumberlands and a 2nd place finish at the Centre College Invitational. Under Coach Walters' leadership, who was named KIAC Coach of the Year, the team captured both regular season and tournament championships. As the 2009 season begins, the roster sees significant changes with only four returners. The team aims for a Top-25 ranking and has scheduled matches against strong NAIA and Division opponents.

  3. 2009 Season outlook • Roster Changes • Only four players returned from last season. • Coach walters brought in five new players for the start of the fall season. • Scheldule Changes: • Our goal at the beginning of the season was to get Top-25 ranking , and to have a chance at going to the national tournament in May. • We added to the schedule more top NAIA programs ( like Taylor , Georgetown, Cumberlands and IWU) • we have added top programs from other divisions like Western Kentucky, Bellarmine and, Vinncennes.
