  5. Location The Buriganga River is the main river flowing beside Dhaka city, capital of Bangladesh

  6. Origin Originated from the Dhaleshwari near Kalatia. Its average width and depth are 400m and 10m respectively. This river is only 27 km long.

  7. History Mosque on the Buriganga branch of the Ganges1814(Sketch) Dhaka was Established by the Mughals on the bank of river Buriganga in the early 17th centaury. Considering the immense beauty and potentiality of this river for growth of trade and commerce. Since then Buriganga made this city a flourishing river port.

  8. Economic Significance People from Dhaka, depends on the Buriganga's water for drinking, fishing and carrying merchandise. Provides drainage for its internal water. Transportation. In 1989, a bridge was built over the river for vehicles and pedestrians. In 2001, a second bridge over the river was built at Babubazar for vehicles and pedestrians

  10. Problem Industrial Waste Sewage Line Tanneries Industries Unabated Encroachment & Medicine waste.

  11. Solution • Relocate the tanneries outside the capital. • Taking away Illegal encroacher to vacate the river. • Using industrial law properly. • Industrial waste should be thrown in a particular area.
