  4. In the year 1900, a new pharmaceutical product known as "Kilane" was introduced by Mr. Pae in conjunction with the establishment of the Teck Heng Yoo Drug Store in Bangkok. Kilane was succeeded by "Krisnaklan", a traditional Chinese medicine for stomach aches and diarrhea.Teck Heng Yoo' s reputation was firmly established during a dysentry outbreak which struck units of the Thai army known as the "Wild Tiger Corps". When "Krisnaklan" cleared up the epidemic in a matter of days, His Majesty King Vajiravudh, Rama VI, awarded Mr. Pae a "Wild Tiger Corps" pin. In 1913, His Majesty bestowed upon Mr. Pae the family name of "Osathanugrah" which his descendents still proudly bear. The family business prospered and the company name later changed to "Osotspa Co., Ltd.". The most memorable event came in 1959 when the present monarch, His Majesty King Bhumipol Aduldej, Rama IX, graciously granted the company permission to use the Royal Garuda Emblem. To this day, almost 100 years later, Osotspa still adheres to the guidelines set out by Svasti Osathanugrah, the son of Mr. Pae.   5. " Fully Integrated Operations" In most areas of its business, the Osotspa Group of Companies is fully integrated to create and maintain clear competitive advantages. Pharmaceutical products, personal care products, beverages, food products, and personal hygiene products, benefit from an integrated process embracing the production of raw materials, the production of packaging materials as well as the production of the actual products . Managements in marketing and distribution of these products are responsible for all phases and accompany the products right through to the distribution points in all channels throughout the country. These fully integrated operations give Osotspa greater flexibility to compete effectively from better cost positions. The integration also facilitates the introduction of differentiated products and services, and the launch of innovations into the marketplace.

  6. " Research And Development " To cope with the pace of changes in technological development and consumer preference, the Osotspa Group of Companies is fully committed to research and development. The group has invested heavily in modern in-house facilities,especially in the areas of ethical drugs, OTC medicines, foods, beverages and personal care products. As the integration into the global market brings increasing and more sophisticated competition, Osotspa does not limit its research activities to internal developments only, but actively seeks joint ventures and licensing alliances. These associations allow Osotspa to adopt quickly innovative technologies that have originated outside the group

" Social Contributions " Given its faith inthe Thai people and a keen awareness of the value of being a part of Thai society, Osotspa is firmly committed to helping raise the standards of living of all. The Osathanugrah Foundation was set up to contribute to social causes in areas such as public health, medical treatment, education, sports, arts and culture. To improve health services, Osotspa has supported many hospital construction projects and presently provides a number of mobile medical units in rural areas to educate villagers about fundamental health care. The company is a major sponsor of such national sports as Thai boxing and boat racing. It has also been instrumental in raising the level of Thai international style boxing to world standards. In terms of education, the company has built schools and annually awards numerous scholarships to accommodate deserving rural students at both the secondary and university levels. Osotspa is deeply involved in programs designed to maintain and preserve national culture and Thai arts. Assistance has been given to numerous projects promoting traditional Thai music. Several archaeological projects have benefited from the support of Osotspa.

In 1998, the number of personnel in the Osotspa Group of Companies totaled 5,000 employees. Also, the Osotspa Group maintains one of the largest promotion teams in the country, ranging from beauty advisors,product consultants in leading retail stores to mobile provincial promotion teams that penetrate the provinces and rural villages of Thailand. On the sales and distribution side, the Osotspa Group has achieved intensive store coverage for virtually all consumer products categories. Sales forces within the group can cover up to 80% of the estimated 200,000 available retail outlets in Thailand. To insure efficient delivery of product, marketing teams and sales forces are supported by computerized order processing systems, semi-automated warehouses and large fleets of delivery vehicles.
