  2. ATI Proposal? Goal of this discussion is to generate & discuss ideas for an ATI proposal • Proposal due Nov. 1. ~$1M maximum. • Issues? • Takes work during an already critical time • Meeting proposal deadline could be challenging • Need time for Director review/approval • Don’t know the result until next summer • Would we be better off applying to MRI instead (or also)? Due end of Jan. • More dollars & the result is known at ~ the same time • Do we charge indirect costs to government funding? Likely yes. • Could reduce cost cap unless indirect costs not included in cost cap or we can use this infrastructure money • Need to coordinate with TSIP • What does ATI offer us? • More money during early project phase (~$1M maximum) • A direct then-year dollar benefit • Potentially allows us to improve schedule or reduce risk • More demonstration of Federal support (helpful in private fundraising)

ATI Proposal? • What does ATI offer us? • More money during early project phase (~$1M maximum) • A direct then-year dollar benefit • Potentially allows us to improve schedule or reduce risk • If proposal deemed likely to succeed then might be able to use some of our PD phase contingency early • More demonstration of Federal support (helpful in private fundraising)

  4. ATI Proposal Criteria • What are the criteria for selecting the proposal topic? • High probability of success • The right(?) dollar amount. Too low & its not worth our effort. Too high & our chances of success are reduced. • Consistent with our PD or early DD phase goals • What constitutes a high probability of success? • Look at last year’s winning proposals. • Lessons learned from d-IFS proposal. • Will AODP criteria be included this year?
