Social and Environmental Developments • Environmental Management Systems, Class Environmental Notations, Green Awards, Green Challenges etc • Compliance Driven Continuous Improvement • Regulatory Control seen as minimum standard • Industry seeking targets above regulatory minimum • Internationally recognised performance indicators being sought

Implementation of Sustainability Biodiversity Invasive species, treatment of ballast water (early compliance incentives) Effective hull anti-fouling systems (air emissions) Marine Pollution Operational: Improved waste management systems, oily waste, garbage and sewage waste Technical: Improved on-board equipment, improved availability of shore waste reception facilities Air Emissions Environmental Indexing, Enhanced engine efficiency, improved cargo handling operations (VOC emissions)
