  7. YSWD • Menu in the food court • Automatic windows in classrooms • Coats off as soon as you enter the building • Extra card machine in the food court • Uniform changes

  8. Uniform Consultation Group Met with Mrs Keane, Miss Allman and our link governor, Mr Dineen. Came up with a success criteria for our uniform. All agreed to keep the school colours – black & amber. Worked in groups to design a new uniform and then shared our ideas. Following this meeting a survey went out to all learners showing the final ideas and giving everyone the chance to vote.

  9. Uniform Sept 2014 There were 737 votes in total of which 70.9% (523) were in favour of the shirt and tie. Design of proposed tie and house pin badges to be worn as part of uniform – house identity.

EMAs • School Council representatives look at the EMAs every half term and decide which deserve house points. • Last half term’s points: KS4 - Branwen = 4 points KS3 - Branwen = 4 points Olwen= 3 pointsOlwen= 2 points Pryderi= 3 pointsPryderi= 6 points Taliesin = 6 points Taliesin = 2 points • Vouchers awarded for top EMA earner every term. 3 X a year!

  11. SNAG SNAG group set up – KS4: 2 reps per house - KS3: 2 Yr 7 and 2 Yr 8 Meeting - discussed issues such as: • Prices • Selection • Meal deals • Themed days Consultation with Mrs Ash – Head cook.

  12. Councillor Bob Poole School Council representatives met with Cllr Bob Poole, cabinet member for young people in Newport and a governor at our school. The meeting was arranged to discuss topics including becoming a councillor, local government, the election and democratic process and future plans for Newport city centre.

  15. Sport Relief Friday 21st March Newport High ran over 700 miles!!! We raised £738.58

  16. Sport Relief video Sport Relief 2014 saw the entire nation pull out all the stops again! To absolutely everyone who took part, we can’t thank you enough. Because of your amazing generosity the current Sport Relief total stands at £53,370,743. We will now put that money to work, transforming lives both at home in the UK and across the world.

  19. How does YOUR voice get heard? Remember … • If you have an idea or suggestion and would like to bring it to school council you must speak to your form reps. • They will take it to the house council to be discussed and then forward it to the school council. • Your house captain will then feed back what has been discussed and keep you up-to-date.

  21. Reflection Remind us that we can all make a difference to how our school works. Help us to work hard to make a positive contribution. Also Help us to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people, as well as tackle the root causes of poverty and injustice. May your faith support you.
