  7. CORE CURRICULUM – Per Fortnight • English 7 periods – Year 10 6 Periods – Year 11 • Mathematics 6 periods – Year 10 7 periods – Year 11 • Science 9 periods • WBQ/Science 1 period • Welsh 2 periods • R.E. 2 periods • P.E. 2 periods • PSE 1 period

CORE SCIENCE • In Year 10: • 10 hours per fortnight (1 WBQ). • Study Biology (B1), Chemistry (C1) & Physics (P1). • WJEC • Controlled Assessments • Three examinations in Year 10 (June 2015). • Science GCSE awarded in Year 10. • WBQ Application of Number Key skill – level 1. • Higher Band: WBQ Application of Number Key skill – level 2.

  10. CORE SCIENCE • In Year 11: • A new course – Additional Science. • New work in the three sciences. • New Controlled assessments • Three exams June 2016 (B2, C2, P2). • New & separate GCSE award in Additional Science.

TRIPLE SCIENCE • 15 hours per fortnight. • Separate GCSE awards in Biology, Chemistry & Physics at end of Y11. • Five examinations in Year 10 – (B1, B2, C1, P1, P2). • Four examinations in Year 11 – (B3, C2, C3, P3) • Controlled Assessment in each Science. • Suitable only for potential A Level Scientists • WBQ Application of Number Key skill – level 2.

  12. APPLIED SCIENCE • BTEC level 2 Vocational course. • 10 hours per fortnight. • Two year course. • 100% Portfolio based – class based work. • Not suitable for potential A Level Scientists. • WBQ Application of Number Key skill – level 1.
