OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • Facility Administration. • Click on Administration in the navigation list to the left. • Select Facilities. • Click on “Your Clinic Name Here” to edit the details of your clinic. • You can add a new facility by clicking “add” in this section, and you can also have different color schemes for each facility. • Make sure to save your changes.

OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • User Administration is found by clicking “Users” in the Administration section. • This page will show either a list of users, or if none have been added only admin will show. • To add a user click “add user” • To modify an existing user account, click on their username. • Authorized users are practitioners ONLY. Make sure you click the provider box, to authorize providers. • Make sure to save your changes.

  5. OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • Practice Administration • Enter the pharmacy, insurance company, and other relevant information about your clinic. Including documents accepted. • Click on the add a pharmacy button and select the preferred method for giving prescription information. • Make sure you save your changes.

  6. OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • Click on X12 partners. • Add new partner. • The ID number is given to you by the clearinghouse. • The version number refers to which version of the X12 837p protocol specification, and most likely doesn't need to be changed. • Save your work.

OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • Select Insurance Companies from the link at the top to see the list of insurance companies added. • Add a new company by clicking on add company. • Modify a company by clicking on its name. • In a new install this list will be empty, don't be alarmed. • Save your work.

  8. OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • Add each insurance plan that your facility accepts as a separate insurance company. • Click on insurance numbers to see a list of your providers id numbers. Remember these numbers need to be entered on your claims. • Clicking add new allows you to add new numbers for the provider. • To modify existing numbers, click on the company name in the list. • Save your work!

OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • You can use the default setting to use default numbers for companies where a number is not otherwise entered. • Click on documents to see a list of patient documents that have been loaded. • Clicking edit categories allows you to see what types of documents you can attach to a patient. • To add a new category: click on the folder you want to be the parent of the category. Type in the new name for the category and click add category. • Save your work!

OpenEMR: Setting Up Your Clinic • To access the address book, select addr book from the miscellaneous display. • To edit a contact's information click on their name. • To add a new contact, click add new. • When adding a physician make sure you include appropriate ID numbers. • Adding physician specialty will narrow your search when looking for a patient referral. • Entering a name or a specialty at the top of the page allows you to search for a contact. • Save your work!
