  12. Personification Human qualities are given to an object, animal, or idea.

  13. Metaphor A comparison between two objects without using like or as.

  14. Hyperbole Words that create an exaggerated image.

  15. Speaker In poetry, the voice that talks to the reader.

  16. Theme Main idea in a work of literature.

  17. Couplet Two rhyming lines. ….cat ….hat

  18. Rhyme Repetition of similar sounds at the ends of words. ….cat ….pup ….hat ….up
