In addition to being an exceptionally skilled mining industry professional, Ilias Atwani is also a passionate photographer. Among the several renowned photography competitions he has won so far, The Art of Mining and 20 Years of Engagement top the list. As a reward for winning The Art of Mining, Ilias was sent on a short trip to two Inuit villages along with the runner up and a local guide named Noah. Ilias Atwani learnt several new things about the Inuit culture through this trip. He spent plenty of time with Noah and his family only to feel how the Inuit were filled with so much warmth and a unique sense of humor. The sports and games he saw them playing were unlike anything he had ever seen.

Ilias’ Professional Journey So Far • IliasAtwani has had the opportunity of working with several reputed names in the industry in respectable positions. • He used to intern in the mining engineering department of a reputed company in Meknes, Morocco for a short while back in the year 2008. • His responsibilities included assisting operators underground in their daily activities, handling and getting familiar with the equipment used underground under the supervision of foremen and operators.
Some more Information about IliasAtwani • Ilias worked in the Mining Engineering Department of a British-Swiss multinational commodity trading and mining company for more than 6 years. • He completed his bachelor’s degree in Mineral and Mining Engineering from Laval University and is currently pursuing his master’s degree here. • He also holds an additional degree in Mathematical Sciences.
