Terdapat pula 2 pabrik pengolahan rumput laut di Sabah. • Rumput laut diproduksi di 4 districts dalam skala besar: Semporna, Lahad Datu, Kudat, dan Kunak. • Jenis rumput laut utamanya: Kappaphycus alvarezii and Eucheuma spinosum sebagian besar untuk keperluan ekspor. Hal inisesuaidengan yang dipersyaratkanoleh Food Safety and Quality Division Ministry of Health of Malaysia.
