  2. Information • Title: Boats on the Seine • Artist: Santiago Rusinol • Date of Composition: 1894 • Artistic Era: Modern • Other Information: This painting was painted during the Artists’ third stay in Paris. This spot was incredibly close to where he was staying.

  3. Why I like it • I like this painting for a number of reasons, but mostly because it visually appeals to me. It shows a simpler time and makes you wonder how the boats got there. It shows an earlier time in Paris, and generally is a beautiful piece of art work.

  4. Information • Title: View of Toledo • Artist: El Greco • Date of Composition: 1540 • Artistic Era: Romanticism • Other Information: The painting only shows the easternmost portion, but show Toledo from the north, including the cathedral.

  5. Why I like it • This painting is very beautiful. It shows such a picturesque seen of the powerful city of Rome. Even though there are many pictures of the city Rome, this one stands out to me the most. It gives a great representation of what it looked like and shows it as if it were deserted. Overall I like this painting and felt that it meant something to me as soon as I saw it.

Information • Title: A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte • Artist: George Seurat • Date of Composition: 1884 • Artistic Era: Neo-classicism • Other Information: The painting its self took around two years to make. The point of the painting is to share harmony in both the colors and the people themselves in the painting.

  7. Why I like it • Well this is the painting that I chose that was not on the list. It is a very famous painting that is liked by many people. To me the painting looks like everyone is having a good time and the mood looks as it is a nice, calm, relaxing day. It looks like none of the people have any worries and are just enjoing the lovely day. I feel really attached to this painting and love every bit of it.
