Part II: Abraham and Sarah Genesis 17 & 21:1-7 Some time later, when Abram was ninety-nine years old and Sarai was ninety years old,
God appeared to Abram on the mountain of Horeb. “I am El Shaddai.” That means the God of the mountain or The Almighty God.
Abram bowed to the ground and God spoke: “I am the Lord who brought you to this land. This is my covenant with you…”
God continued to speak to Abram… “You will no longer be called Abram; you shall take the name Abraham. I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you.”
Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai, your wife, you will not call her Sarai but Sarah. I will bless her and you will have a son.”
Bowing down, Abraham laughed to himself, This is crazy! How can Sarah and I become parents at such an old age?
God replied to Abraham, “Sarah will have a son and you will call him Isaac. I will be his God and the God of his descendants after him.”
God kept his promise to Sarah. She had a son, and they named him Isaac.
Sarah spoke: God has made me laugh. Now everyone will laugh with me.
