WHAT IS THE WAR OF 1812? • THE WAR OF 1812 IS A WAR FOUGHT BETWEEN AMERICAN AND BRITISH EMPIRE FORCES. • THE BRITISH EMPIRE TRIGGERED THIS BATTLE BY IMPRESSMENT THEY BLOCKED EVERY WAY FOR THE AMERICANS TO TRADE WITH RANCE THIS ENFURIATED THE AMERICANS FOR THE REASON THAT THIS VIOLATED THE NEUTRAL RIGHTS OF THE AMERICANS.

  3. WHY DID AMERICANS DECLARE WAR? • AMERICANS DECLARED WAR ON 1812. • THE AMERICAN FORCES DECLARED WAR BECAUSE • OF TRADE RESTRICTIONS DUE TO THE ON GOING • WAR BETWEEN FRANCE AND BRITAIN.TRADE • RESTRICTIONS.IMPRESSMENT ON AMERICAN SAILORS • AND SHIPS.

ROOTS OF THE WAR OF 1812 • THE ROOTS OF THE WAR STARTED WHEN BRITISH STARTED IMPRESSING AMERICAN SHIPS AND FORCING THE SAILORS TO FIGHT AGAINST FRANCE. • AT FIRST THE PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. (AT THAT TIME THOMAS JEFFERSON) WAS BEING PACIENT AND TRYING TO HOLD OFF THE WAR AND KEEP IT’S NEUTRAL STATE, KEEP TRADING WITH BOTH FRANCE AND GREAT BRITAIN.

  5. AS TIME AND BRITAIN KEPT IMPRESSING SAILORS, THE ATTACK OF THE british warship LEOPARD ON THE CHESAPEAKE. • This iN JUSTICE was when the british demanded to search the chesapeake and the the captain refused when this happened the british opened fire killing 3 and wounding 18.

  6. CONSEQUENCES FOR THE BRITISH • BRITAIN’S PRACTICE OF IMNPRESSMENT AGAINST THE AMERICANS WAS PUSHING TO IT’S LIMITS • BRITAIN WAS ALSO VIOLATING ANOTHER OF THE AMERIVANS RIGHTS. THE RIGHT TO TRADE WITH FRANCE BECAUSE OF ITS NEUTRAL STATE BUT BRITAIN DID NOT WANT AMERICANS TO TRADE WITH FRANCE • BRITAIN’S SOLUTION FOR THIS WAS TO IMPRESS AMERIVAN SOLDIERS

  7. WHEN BRITAIN STARTED IMPRESSING AMERICAN SOLDIERS THE AMERICANS WERE BEGGINNING TO ENFURIATE AND TO PUSH JEFFERSON TO DECLARE WAR ON BRITAIN. • THIS VIOLATION OF AMERICAN RIGHTS LED JEFFERSON TO STOP SOME TRADE WITH BRITAIN. • THE ATTACK ON THE CHESAPEAKE TRIGGERED BIGGER MEASURES.

THE MEASURES!! • ALL OF THIS VIOLATIONS MADE THE AMERICANS TO TAKE MATTER ON THEIR OWN HANDS. • IN DECEMBER 1807 THE AMERICANS PASSED THE EMBARGO ACT. • THIS EMBARGO ACT HAD TOO MANY CONSEQUENCES FOR BRITAIN • MANY OF THIS CONSEQUENCES WAS THE STOP OF TRADE WITH AMERICA FOR THE VIOLATIONS OF IT’S NEUTRALITY.

  9. HOW THE WAR WAS FOUGHT. • THE WAR WAS FOUGHT WAS FOUGHT IN THREE THEATERS. • AT SEA WARSHIPS AND PRIVATEERS OF BOTH SIDES ATTACKED EACH OTHER’S MERCHANT SHIPS • THE BRITISH BLOCKADED THE ATLANTIC COAST OF THE U.S. AND MOUNTED LARGE-SCALE RAIDS IN LATER STAGES OF THE WAR.

  10. AMERICAN VICTORIES. • AMERICAN VICTORIES WERE REPRESENTED MOSTLY BY SINGLE SHIP DUELS AGAINST BRITISH FRIGATES AND COMBAT AFAINST BRITISH PROVINCIAL VESSESLS ON THE GREAT LAKES
