  1. CTAP 295 - Final Presentation Anthony Cabezut Chowchilla Union High School

  2. Introduction – Who am I? • Spanish Teacher • Just Try Club Advisor • Contact Information • Chowchilla High School 805 Humboldt Avenue Chowchilla, CA 93610 • My website: http://www.chowchillahigh.k12.ca.us/schools/cuhs/teacher_sites/cabezut/public_html/

  3. Expectations… • As a novice, I looked forward to a year-long introduction to computer technology. • As the year progressed, I became more and more excited about learning technological applications. • As the course comes to an end, I look forward to creating web-based lessons in the future.

  4. Actual Learning… • I learned how to create a web page. • I learned how to search the Internet. • I learned how to use the computer more effectively. • I leaned how to create links.

  5. Successes and Shortcomings… The lesson was successful in that it tied in beautifully with the four traditional aims of language learning—to read, speak, write, and comprehend the target language. The shortcomings center around my sometimes tentative explanations of how to access and apply all that was available, given my role as a “novice” instructor of technology. My students found the lesson to be a refreshing approach to what had been, heretofore, totally classroom-based learning.

  6. Shortcomings “In a Nutshell”… • My first time at implementing technology • Internet down-time • Time constraints

  7. Successes “In a Nutshell”… • Refreshing approach • Student enthusiasm • Introduced students to a variety of useful sites

  8. Student Data… • This graph is showing the assessments in the lesson. The yellow line is the culminating activity score, the blue line is the pre-test score, and the pink line is the post-test score. Overall, most students show an improvement.

  9. Revision Summary.. • The student data was helpful in determining whether the students learned the material adequately • I revised the following areas: objectives, activities, and the post test

  10. Suggested Revisions…

  11. Conclusion… It took a lot of time and effort to create the web-based lesson and, along the way, many valuable lessons were learned about computer technology and its applications. The time and effort required to produce a credible web-based lesson limits, in practical terms, the number of such lessons a teacher can create during the school year. My goal is to produce at least one lesson per year. I look forward to the advances in software that continually make efforts such as these less and less daunting.
