  1. How To Resolve Beep Codes In HP Computers?

During the Startup process or updating BIOS you will hear two or more short beeps which are absolutely normal, but if the beep continues, then it is the sign of some problem and maybe a major one. If the Windows doesn’t start properly and the computer continues to beep, then there is a serious hardware problem and need to be fixed immediately.

Hp Support would like to make you familiar with the most common issues that cause beeping sounds: • Basic Computer function is not able to start • A failed component on the motherboard • A key on the keyboard is stuck • A memory DIMM or hard drive cable is not inserted properly • Memory or Heat-related failures in critical cooling area

  4. Notice the number of beep sounds, its repetition, if the beeps low or high, long or short in tone and note down the pattern. Use and identify the issue according to the following beep code. If the beep codes occurring while updating the, flashing or restoring the BIOS:

  5. 1 short beep: Legacy floppy drive or CD/DVD drive is not detected • 2 short beeps: Floppy diskette or CD is not detected • 3 short beeps: Not able to start Flashing • 4 short beeps: Failure of Flashing like corrupted image • 5 short beeps: BIOS recovery is done successfully • 2short beeps, 2 long beeps: process for the recovery of BIOS is successful • One short & one long means problem is in Memory • Two short and one long repeats for 5times signifies initializing of the video is not able to done or requiring a video card. • 3short and one long symbolized the error for CPU configuration or compatibility of CPU

Now fix these beep codes using these instructions: • Turn off the system, take out the power cord and then • turn it on by reconnecting the power cord. • Listen for a beep code. • Disconnect all external devices like printer, scanner, hard drives etc. And also remove any media from CD/DVD drives, USB ports, floppy drives, and memory card reader slots. • Also, disconnect the keyboard and mouse and now restart the system.

  7. If you can’t listen to any beeps then replace all those removed devices. • Remove any obstructions that are blocking vents as Hot air will damage internal components causing the major problem. Clean and remove dust from the vents and if still the strange noise is heard take your computer for service. • Take out the memory cover and place it back, if there is no beeps heard then a memory module is not placed properly by you or muddle might be defected. Reinsert the module to check connection issue and replace it if the problem still persists. • Repeat the process for each module if your computer has multiple modules.
