Organisation • DAKOFA is a member organisation for stakeholders within the waste sector, both public and private organisations • DAKOFA is a national waste management association, covering all of Denmark. • DAKOFA was formed in 1982, and currently has 250 members. It is a non-political, non-lobby organisation, providing information on a technical level

DAKOFA activities • On a technical, scientific level to deal with items within the field of waste treatment • To communicate know-how and results • To coordinate and initiate research and development • To establish cooperation nationally as well as internationally • To create technical debate concerning national and international regulations • To influence national and international regulations • To inform and influence EU initiatives • To create dialog between authorities an private companies

DAKOFA Board • 6 members and 2 substitutes, all elected by the General Assembly (GA). • Board members are elected for 6 years in total, can be reelected once (after 3 years). • The president is elected directly by the GA The Board elects among themselves the vicepresident and Treasurer.All members are eligible for election. • GA are called according to the DAKOFA rules decided by the GA • Calls are given once a year on 15 June announcing seats for election at the Board and calling for proposals, with a reply date of 15 July. Final call is sent out 4 weeks prior to the GA • All DAKOFA members have 1 vote • DAKOFA members are company memberships and not individuals (all employees of the membership companies/authorities enjoy full membership benefits).

DAKOFA membership groups and membership fees 2010 • DAKOFA has 4 membership groups • Group 1 - Institutions, agencies, organisations, regions, municipalities with up to 25.000 inhabitants and private companies with 0-6 employees. Yearly membership fee: USD 1.125 excl. VAT (25%). • Group 2 – Municipalities with over 25.000 inhabitants and private companies with 7-25 employees. Yearly membership fee: USD 2.195 excl. VAT (25%). • Group 3 - Private companies with 26-100 employees, regional waste units with up to 200.000 inhabitants connected. Yearly membership fee: USD 3.275 excl. VAT (25%). • Group 4 - Private companies with over 100 employees, regional waste units with more than 200.000 inhabitants connected Yearly membership fee: USD 6.495,00 excl. VAT (25%).

DAKOFA Financial information • DAKOFA income consists of membership fees (48%), conference fees (48%) and sponsorships (3%) • Total income 2010 budget, app. USD 1 mio. • Total expences 2010 budget , app USD 1 mio USD • DAKOFA is a non-profit organisation that maintains a balanced budget over a period of years. • DAKOFA equity capital as per 2010 app. UDS 367.000. An equity capital of a certain size is necessary to have since DAKOFA operates as a business association where 50% of our income comes from uncertain sources in a competitive market.

DAKOFA Secretariat • There are currently 6 employees in the DAKOFA secretariat. • 1982-1991 based on voluntary help • 1991 – Managing Director and secretary was hired • 1994 – 1 Technical staff and bookkeeper hired • 1995 – 2nd Technical staff hired • 2001 – 3rd Technical staff hired • End 2010 – aiming at hiring a part time technical staff.
