  6. Techniques – TTXT subtitling • teletext subtitling, also known as closed subtitling • this means that viewers can choose whether or not to display the subtitles • this data is added into the VBI area EBU

Techniques – TTXT subtitling • news programmesubtitles are preparedinadvanceandimportedfromiNews • thesubtitles are broadcastedmanually, they are nottriggeredby a time codeand are notautomated • reporting live is notsubtitled • there is a numberofprogrammeswhichhavethepotential to besubtitled, but there is a lackofpeopleandworkspace EBU

  13. Conclusion • although HRT usesseveraltechniques for thehearingimpaired, there is stillroom for improvement • inthe future, wehope to increasethenumberof TTXT subtitledprogrammes EBU
