Bibliometrics • Nearly half (45%) involved in supporting bibliometrics • 20% reported that bibliometrics support was provided by other depts. “I keep a watching brief on this” “possibly have a greater role in future” “I offer limited advice & training in the measurement of research performance...subject to demand” “There is a fair of degree of cynicism re bibliometrics in many disciplines taught here” “In a fairly small way, with a focus on journal impact factors”

  7. InCites • Vast majority (28) don’t have InCites but 12 institutions have and 3 are considering • 18% don’t know if their institution subscribes • Only 4 institutions submit data Thomson Reuters to create datasets (5 planning)

  8. Summary • Mixed picture • More discussion/co-operation between Library and Research Office • CRIS decisions often taken at a more senior level • Products like InCites shows that bibliometrics becoming more important
