  2. Following are pictures of the surgical procedures and research conducted at Mahidol University, in Thailand • All Thai research was coordinated by Assistant Professor KamponKaeoket, DVM, MSc, PhD (Pig Production); DusitLaohasinnarong, DVM, and Dr. Jo Ann Hachuela of the Philippines.

  4. Ovulation detection using ultrasound

  5. Administration of pre-anesthetic drugs

  6. Administration of anesthetic

  7. Sedated and anesthetized animal heading for surgery

  8. Cleaning and disinfecting the surgical site

  9. Properly restrained animal at beginning of surgery

  10. Ovariohysterectomy in progress

  11. Locating the reproductive tract

  12. Exposing the uterine horns, oviducts, and ovulated ovaries

  13. Ovulated ovaries

  14. Removing the reproductive tract

  15. Transferring the tract for flushing procedures

  16. Separating the upper uterine horns, oviducts, and ovaries

  17. Incising the corpora lutea and determining the number of ovulated oocytes

  19. Incising and separating the isthmus from the ampulla and infundibulum
