Sustainable Approaches to Interpretation

This conference aims to discuss sustainable approaches to interpretation in the Black Sea region. It will focus on the design and establishment of interpretative trails, showcasing the bio, geo, and cultural landmarks of the area. The conference is organized by the Black Sea NGO Network in partnership with the History Museum Kavarna, Nature Park Strandja Administration, and the Statute of the Protected Areas.

Kaliakra - Bolata Complex strict nature and archaeological reserve Steppe vegetation, Via Pontica, marine life, underwater caves, geological formations, steep cliffs Fortress of Kaliakra – primary landmark on the coast Three lines of fortifications, remains of towers, churches, dwellings, Roman bath, nobleman’s house, water mains, well Legends and stories, St. Nicholas Chapel

Varvara Nature Park Strandja coast and forests, chapels “little monasteries”, sacred water sources, most revered saints, fire dancing Beech forests, evergreen undergrowth – typical of Strandja deciduous forests, coppice forests, Mediterranean scrubland and bushes Wildlife Agriculture, hut dwellers Varvara and prospects for development
