  2. Reason to approve REDD • Objective is to reduce the green house gases from forest deforestation and forest degradation • Helps to preserve the forest • REDD protects forests, • Cuts down on the carbon levels in the atmosphere

Consequences if REDD not approved • 20%-25% of greenhouse has emissions is the result of deforestation and forest degradation, which is higher than the transportation sector • Greenhouse gases will continue to increase because of reducing natural sinks • The increase of greenhouse gases will cause an increase in the average world temperature, this will can kill many plants and animals

  4. Actions to take • The federal and local governments should implement legislation for REDD to take effect • NGOs, institutes, and organizations need to support countries that back the REDD program • The forest-dependent countries should be the first to engage in the REDD process • Money should be provided to help preserve and save the forests
