  1. Midamble Design Continued Authors: • Date:2017-09-12 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  2. Overview • Doppler bit and Midamble design were well-discussed in reference [1]~[4]. • Well-accepted design concepts in SPs • Following two topics are addressed in this presentation: • More simulations on >2SS—per request in July meeting • Propose a special handling rule for the last Midamble period at the end of PPDU. Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  3. I. More Simulation for 3SS and 4SS • Simulation Setting • Channel: • DNLOS channel, • Doppler: [3kmph, 60kmph, 3kmph] • Packet length 100 OFDM symbols, • LDPC, 80MHz, 5GHz Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  4. Goodput Results-3SS, 4SS Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  5. Goodput Results All with Midambles Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  6. II. Last Period Special Handling • When there is only one residue symbol over the last midamble period, it may not be worthwhile to insert the last midamble. • In many cases the number of info bits in the last symbol is small (e.g. when pre-FEC padding factor is small, or data rate is low), inserting the midamble may reduce the efficiency while not improving the PER much. • Propose to not insert the last midamble in this case: Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  7. (Updated) TxPHY Parameters • Tx side: TXTIME needs to be adjusted when midamble is present. • All other parameters (e.g. L-LENGTH) are adjusted based on TXTIME. where Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  8. (Updated) Rx PHY Parameters (1) • Rx computation on number of midambles NMA—multiple options, receiver may choose whatever more feasible for its implementation, e.g. where Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  9. Rx PHY Parameters (2) • Rx computation on NSYMand TPE: • Rx computation on RXTIME: Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  10. Simulations Settings • HE 11ax 80MHz, SU PPDU • DNLOS: 3 clusters, speed [3kmph, 60kmph, 3kmph] • LDPC, 1SS and 4SS • Goodput is calculated as • Data rate (1-PER) midamble efficiency • Data: 21 (or 22)data symbols with different Pre-FEC factor • Midamble Periodicity MMA = 10 symbols • With and without midamble after 20th data symbol Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  11. 4x1-1ss, Pre-FEC factor = 1 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  12. 4x1-1ss, Pre-FEC factor = 2 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  13. 4x1-1ss, Pre-FEC factor = 3 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  14. 4x1-1ss, Pre-FEC factor = 4 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  15. 4x4-4ss, Pre-FEC factor = 1 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  16. 4x4-4ss, Pre-FEC factor = 2 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  17. 4x4-4ss, Pre-FEC factor = 3 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  18. 4x4-4ss, Pre-FEC factor = 4 Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  19. 4x1-1ss, Pre-FEC factor = 4, 22 symbols Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  20. Conclusions • More simulations provided to show the advantage of midamble even when Nss>2. • Propose a special handling of the last midamble period at the end of PPDU, and the corresponding equation updates. • Refer to [5] for the complete text proposal on Doppler Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al

  21. SP1 • Do you agree to accommodate the midamble last period handling rule and the corresponding Tx/Rx equations as described in slides 6~9? Hongyuan Zhang, Marvell, et al
