Impact of the Conquistadors • Spain becomes Europe’s greatest power • Huge quantity of valuable goods • World connected by sea routes (Goods, people and ideas) • Native Americans • Thought world was going to end • Tens of thousands died • Converted to Christianity • Mayan fought Spanish rule in Mexico and Central America • Preserved aspects of culture – language, religious traditions and clothing
