Definition of a planet • The IAU’s definition of a planet is, A planet is a celestial body that is in orbit around the sun, has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium shape and has cleared theneighborhoodd around its orbit. • A dwarf planet is a celestial body that is has not cleared the neighborhood around its orbit , and is not a satellite. • All other objects orbiting the sun shall be referred to collectively as Small Solar System Bodies.
Our definition • A planet is a celestial body that has an orbit around the sun, (a) less than 40 degrees in inclinination, (b) has one moon or more, (c ) is less than 40 AUs from the sun. • If it doesn't meet 1 of the requirements it is a derp planet • If it doesn’t meet 2 requirements it is a neam planet • If it doesn’t meet any requirements it is a small solar system body
