  2. Outline • Why do we need a Framework? • Guiding Principles • Outline of the Framework • Environmental Policies  Indicators  Statistics  Data Sources

  3. Why do we need a framework? • Definition of scope and goals of environment statistics in Qatar • Identification of users and producers of statistics • Clarification of institutional roles and responsibilities • Definition of standards and classifications • Linking the frameworks of data producers with output frameworks • Facilitation of efficient data sharing and dissemination of statistical outputs

  4. Indicators Analytical & monitoring frameworks (DPSIR, MDG, thematic or issue based Accounting Systems (SEEA) Environment Statistics of Qatar (Qatari Framework QFES) We need a common framework to be consistent, coherent and efficient QNDS 2011 - 2016 State of Environment Reports (UNEP-ROWA, Arab League) Green Growth Ecological Footprint MDG Goals Etc. UNSD Environment Questionnaire . . SNA . Environmental data from different sources (statistical and non-statistical)

  5. Guiding principles • Consideration of environment policy priorities, regular review • Ensure the management of data from various sources according to statistical rules, concepts and definitions • Facilitate integration of data • Facilitate multiple use of data • Consider national classifications and standards • Based on international (UN) standards
