  2. WhatisPathology? • Pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease. • Scientist look at cells through a microscope to find possible diseases and viruses. • Pathology has many fields of study. (General Pathology, Medical Pathology, Veterinary Pathology, Forensic Pathology, Molecular Pathology, Phytopathology, Psychopathology, and Speech-language Pathology.

General Pathology- scientific field which seeks to understand how cells and tissue become injured and how the body repairs itself. • Medical Pathology- anatomical and clinical • Veterinary Pathology- studies the diagnosis of diseases through the examination of animal tissue and body fluids. • Forensic Pathology- studies the cause of death by examination of a cadaver. • Molecular Pathology- studies and diagnosis of disease through examination of molecules within the organs, tissue, and body fluids. • Phytopathology- studies diseases caused by pathogens and environmental conditions. • Psychopathology- studies internal illness, mental distress, and abnormal maladaptive behavior. • Speech-language Pathology- studies speech and language communication disorders. • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathology

  4. Jobs • Many of the jobs that are associated with pathology are in the science field. • Veterinarians, botanists, doctors, and police(CSI).

Education • To become a Pathologist you need to have four years of high school, four years of undergraduate school, four years of graduate school, and you need to have a medical degree. • Places that you could get an education to become a Pathologist are: • Oxford University • Yale Medical School • Michigan State University Places

  7. Demand • There is a high demand for speech-language pathology, due to the rising amount of medical diseases that people are now being diagnosed with. • Other fields of pathology aren’t in a very high demand, but are still in demand.

  8. A Day in the Life of aPathologist! • A typical day for a pathologist is pretty plain. The pathologist shows up for work, drinks a large cup coffee, sits at their desk for about half the day, looks through a microscope, fills out paper work, drinks another large cup of coffee, maybe discovers something, and leaves work to go home.
