  3. the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

  4. 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

  5. 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

  6. Titus 2 • 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

  7. 3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.

  8. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

  9. 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness

  10. 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

  11. 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,

  12. 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

  13. 1:8 one who loves what is good, • 1:16 unfit for doing anything good. • 2:3 teach what is good • 2:7 doing what is good • 2:14 eager to do what is good

  14. Genesis 3:1-13 (NIV) • 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. • He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

  15. 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

  16. 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

  17. 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

  18. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

  19. 8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

  20. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” • 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

  21. 11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

  22. 12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” • 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”

  23. The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

  24. Forbidden fruit is never as good as you imagined it would be • because at its core it is rotten

  25. 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

  26. 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

  27. 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

  28. 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

  29. 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

  30. 15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
