  2. HUBS • It is a hardware device that is used to connect several computers together. • It is also known as a central connection for all the computers and Ethernet-based. • This is beneficial to firms which require lots of data transfer as the information transferred to the hub can be accessed by all connected computers.

  3. BRIDGES • A hardware device which connects one Local Area Network (LAN) to another LAN, which uses the same protocol. • Data can be transferred easily to and from the interlinked networks. • The device is similar to what a router is, but it does not analyze the data, therefore making transitions faster.

  4. SWITCHES • A switch is used to set-up several computers together, due to their ports. • These ports can be connected to computers, cables, modems etc. • Switches are able to control the amount of data transfer between the ports, enabling each connected device to have a ample amount of bandwidth.

  5. ON-LINE • Online is when a device is turned on, and able to join other connected devices. • Devices are also said to be online when they are functioning and connected to a computer system.

  6. OFF-LINE • Offline is a complete contrast to the definition of online. • When a device is not connected to any computer system, so there cannot be any data transferred between the devices.
