Spring 2013 READY Regional Outreach Virtual Meetings “Accountability/Assessments – Setting New Expectations” April 8, 23 or May 6 Home Base/Power School April 18, 22 or 29 • State Superintendent June Atkinson and NCDPI leadership will lead the discussion and share updates • Meetings will be virtual/online. • Schools and central offices are asked to gather their teams and share one log-in as a group to facilitate discussion.

Scoring Module for Elementary and Middle School Common Exams Released The Scoring Module: • begins with an introduction to Common Exams and the state's educator effectiveness model • Includes content-specific sections for science and social studies. • provide access to certificates of completion for the different sections. Access the module here: Common Exams: Elementary and Middle The module can also be accessed through NC Education.

ELA Common Core Lesson Design Seminar Classroom teachers will: • explore the ELA Common Core State Standards. • participate in professional development and • work with DPI consultants to create lessons aligned with the Common Core. The Western session will be held at the WRESA June 17 and 18th. Timeline of Information and Next Steps for Summer Institute Team Leads: • April 9, 11, and 16, all 3:30-4:30pm: • SI Team Webinars for pre-Summer Institute team planning • April 12-April 30: • Registration window for Summer Institutes 2013. • April 26: • Summer Institute Wikispaces available to Summer Institute teams. • By June 14: • All changes and updates to final Summer Institute team rosters due. • ONE WEEK FOLLOWING EACH SUMMER INSTITUTE: • Participants complete Evaluation Survey for CEUs
