Radical Leaders: Robespierre • Born 1758 and died 1794 • He was a French Revolutionary leader • Spokesman for the policies of dictatorial government that ruled France during the crisis brought on by civil and foreign war • Big part of political democracy. • Ideas of the revolutionary principle of equality won him support of low middle and working classes . • Also earned a firm place later in the 19th century in the pantheon of European radical and revolutionary leaders. • The Revolution was passed to him when the king was excuted.

Radical Leaders: Robespierre • Was educated first in the city of Arras then at College Louis-le-grand in Paris. • He took a profession in law just like his father in Arras • Right after he got into law he had a successful practice • He developed a sense of social justice as soon as the Revolution of 1789 loomed • He assumed a public role as an advocate of political change contributing to the pamphlet and cahier literature of the day. • He was elected to the third estate at the age of thirty from arras to estates general • He quickly associated himself with the patriot party.

Radical Leaders: Robespierre • Believed that the third estate was treated badly and that the they should be treated equally to the 1st and 2nd estates. • did not want apart of the French revolution • felt that the army was not strong enough and they would not survive. • was very outgoing in his politics never back downed to anyone even if it was the king he would not ease up. • he assumed the role of estates general In the society and many people agreed and disagreed with him. • most of his actions got him the success that he was looking for and even more than he wanted.
