WHEN AND HOW WAS THE PROGRAM ESTABLISHED? • 1877 the first factory inspection law was passed • Before passage of OSH Act in 1970, most states had factory inspection laws • 1975, 29 CFR 1908 was published as the mechanism for implementing a consultation program • CAAA section 21(d), is the new authority

WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF A CONSULTATION PROJECT? • Obtaining requests for assistance • Providing prompt and accurate identification of hazards • Proposing reliable corrective action • Working with employers to ensure reasonable, timely correction • Encouraging and assisting employers to establish safety and health programs • Providing training and education • Encouraging participation in SHARP • Ensuring effective management and administration of the program Show us how to save money by being safe.
